By Delroy Cuthkelvin: Appearing yesterday on Love FM & TV’s Covid-19 Update Program, Minister of Education Honorable Patrick Faber noted that the two weeks of formal classes which students are missing ends today, which is when their Easter Holiday actually begins. Honorable Faber explained that education should still have been occurring because the ministry had instructed schools and teachers to prepare home-based learning packages for their students for this period. But, in addition, Faber said the students should also have been learning a lot from the very purpose for the suspension of classes.

“It can be that our children are out of school but are getting some of the greatest lessons in the greatest way ever. No textbook can teach you about a pandemic in the way we are learning about it first-hand right now. And so, for us in education circles, we want to ask parents, and we even ask those teachers who are in contact with their students, to ensure that the students realize that this is a learning experience. If they have to write an essay, why not write an essay about what’s going on, your feelings right now, what your observations are? So all of this could be a learning tool,” Faber explained.

A very insightful and educated outlook, indeed!
