By BBN Staff: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) informed that yesterday it received its first patient at the Covid-19 isolation unit.
Reports indicate that the patient is the person who tested positive as Belize’s 4th confirmed case of.
The patient was reportedly transferred via ambulance from the Western Regional Hospital to the KHMH.
A statement from the hospital noted that the KHMHA isolation unit received its first patient requiring critical care.
“It was a historic and seminal moment as it is the cumulative effort of months of planning, resource allocation and human energy from all levels of the institution was kicked into high gear. The team in this picture represents the frontline soldiers in this COVID fight that has foregone fear in favor of love for their fellow men and profession. We owe a profound debt of gratitude to all our health professionals and may we all model our own behavior on their selflessness and sacrifice as we hunker down to get through this,” the statement said.
In the PPE’s are Dr. Evan Hsu, Dr. Eric Bradley, Nurse Casilda Bowman and Nurse Po Chen “Rex” Yen and Dr. Pedro Arriaga – critical care specialist.
The hospital joins the nation in praying for the patient, medical professionals and urges the public to do their part by staying home.
