Police investigate fatal traffic accident in Dangriga

By BBN Staff: Police are investigating a road traffic accident that claimed the life of a man on Sunday evening.

Around 5:40 p.m. authorities responded to a report of a road traffic accident on George Price Drive in Dangriga.

There, cops saw a black and blue Lifan motorcycle with its front portion extensively damaged and two men lying on the left-hand side of the road.

The men were identified as Giovanni Villafranco and Jadeed Johnson, both of New Site Area, Dangriga Town.

Police also saw a dark blue Toyota 4Runner on the left-hand side of the road with damages to the right passenger door.

The 4Runner was being driven by police officer, Elton Alexander Elijio, 40.

Investigations revealed that Elijio was driving his Toyota 4Runner across George Price Drive when the motorcycle that was driven by Villafranco collided into the passenger side door of the 4Runner.

Traveling with Villafranco at the time was Jadeed Johnson.

All three persons were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where Johnson was admitted in a stable condition.

Elijio was treated and release.

Villafranco was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hopsital where he died.

Police are investigating.
