Prime Minister promises answers in death of Hubert Pipersburgh

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister Dean Barrow acknowledged the level of upset of the family of the late Hubert Pipersburgh.

But the Government, he says, elects not to reply out of respect for their grieving process, and will arrange a press conference for the Director of Health Services and others to respond specifically to those questions.

The Prime Minister repeated that it is his duty to act in good faith to the people and if there was any act of malfeasance among the medical staff, then he would deal with it.

The lockdown of the Cayo District is based on advice of the medical professionals led by Director Dr. Marvin Manzanero and he and the NOC considered it “spot-on.”

And for residents of the Cayo District particularly, he counseled “not to let our fears run away with us,” and insisted “we can lick this thing” if we cooperate, though he warned that especially for repeat offenders of the curfew and SOE, something would be done, though he was careful not to couch it as a threat.

Barrow again assured that we have all we need in test kits and PPE’s, much of the latter kept in storage to ensure accountability as some of the equipment was going missing.

Former Health CEO Dr. Ramon Figueroa is to talk to all frontline personnel about what is to be done, and concerns about some of the tents being used at hospitals and particularly KHMH will be addressed – “you have my word,” he said, that we not only hear you, but will address your concerns.

Private sector personnel will assist in reducing pressure on Dr. Manzanero and core team, assist in strategizing and also hands on capacity.
