Posted: Tuesday, April 7, 2020. 1:29 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belmopan City Council announced today that it will be closing all operations for the month of April as of Thursday, April 9.

The Council said that the decision to close operations was taken to safeguard its staff as well as the general public, keeping inline with recommendations made by health authorities in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The council added that it will be assessing the prevailing circumstances to see whether or not businesses will be allowed to reopen on Monday, May 4.

“We strongly encourage anyone with a driver’s license or vehicle license which expires in the month of April to take advantage of the opportunity to renew on April 9th,” the council said. “To
expeditiously facilitate the renewals you are asked to contact Mr. Kevin Jones, Traffic Manager via Whatapp at 615-1757.”

The council also encouraged the public to keep safe and follow the recommendations made by health authorities to combat the spread of the virus.
