Fourteenth confirmed case of Covid-19 is San Ignacio resident

By BBN Staff: Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero informed the nation via the Covid-19 show on Love FM that the 14th confirmed case of Covid-19 in Belize is a patient from San Ignacio, Cayo.

With this new case, the cases in the Cayo District increases from 4 to 5 patients with Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health informed that a further 26 samples were tested for COVID-19 at the Central Medical Laboratory and one of those samples has yielded a positive result.

The patient is a close contact of a previously identified case who started developing minor symptoms, which included a runny nose, nasal congestion and a loss of sense of taste.

The patient remains with minor symptoms and is in self-isolation at home.

The Ministry of Health’s enhanced surveillance continues.

The public is urged to continue to exercise social distancing and to stay at home.
