Stay indoors today

Posted: Sunday, April 12, 2020. 8:04 am CST.

By BBN Staff: As reaffirmed by the Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte in a video last night, Belizeans are reminded that today is treated as a special day under the State of Emergency Regulations and the public is reminded that they need to remain in their homes today.

Under Statutory Instrument 54 of 2020, all businesses are to remain closed with the exception of food mills, sugar, citrus and approved food factories, oil production companies, port operations, public utilities, and private security companies.

“If you do not fall within the list…if you’re not one of those, you’re not allowed to operate today. No grocery stores, no pharmacies, nothing like that are allowed to be open… Also, only if you have a medical emergency are you allowed to leave your homes…” Peyrefitte said.

He stressed that these provisions will be in place every Sunday for the next 14 days.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) reminds the general public that, under the regulations, it is an offense to be out on the street for any reason other than those approved and implores Belizeans to remain indoors today to avoid being arrested and charged. Let’s all work together to beat the COVID-19 pandemic.
