Kareem Musa: “We need an emergency non-partisan food distribution plan for Belizeans”

Posted: Tuesday, April 14, 2020. 8:36 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Caribbean Shores Area Representatives, Kareem Musa, is calling on the government to change its direction in the process for food distribution.

Musa says that there is a dire need for an emergency non- partisan food distribution plan for all Belizeans.

Musa says that the decision by the government and the National Oversight Committee to lockdown was the correct decision.

However, weeks later, the crisis is now immediate food security and distribution for our most vulnerable citizens.

Musa calls on everyone to mobilize on a national scale, in a non- partisan way, a national emergency response that involves NEMO, BDF and the Red Cross.

“Distribution should be to each and every household in need so as to keep our families indoors and safe at home. This effort must involve our productive sector—chicken, beef, eggs, vegetables, fruit/ bananas, oranges. It cannot just be ramen and sausage,” Musa urged.

In addition, he said that everyone who is a Belizean in need of assistance, should qualify.
