By BBN Staff: Last night, Breaking Belize News reported of an extensive bush fire in the Santa Cruz area of Santa Elena, Cayo.
Firefighters responded to the area and managed to control the inferno.
But, residents are reaching out to authorities again today, since the same location is once again on fire.
The residents are gravely concerned since the fire is nearing their homes.
Last week, the Forestry Department issued a statement urging the public to refrain from burning since we are in the middle of the fire season.
The department informed that there were many agricultural fires.
In addition, the department noted that it is not issuing any burning permits.
