Over 2.2 million cases and 153 thousand deaths worldwide due to COVID-19

By BBN Staff: As of today, the world has recorded just over 2.2 million cases of COVID-19. Of this total, just over 153,000 persons or 6.8% have died while over 570,000 or 25.5% have recovered.

The remaining 1.5 million cases who are still positive are referred to as open cases. Of these open cases, around 56,000 are considered severe or critical. The rest are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.

According to Corona Virus Live Tracker, the United States has had the most cases with almost 700,000 confirmed cases of which about 60,000 persons have recovered and over 35,000 persons have lost their lives.

Spain is trailing with 188,000 plus cases of which almost 75,000 persons have recovered and over 19,000 persons have lost their lives.

Italy is ranked third with 172,000 plus confirmed cases of which about 43,000 persons have recovered and almost 23,000 persons have lost their lives.

Belize has not recorded a positive case for three (3) consecutive days now. The total cases remain at 18 positive of which there have been two (2) fatalities.
