By BBN Staff: On Wednesday night over a hundred men were released after 30 days at the Belize Central Prison.
They were detained after a state of emergency was implemented for Belize City’s gang ridden communities.
This had been triggered by a surge in violence resulting in the death of women and children.
Yesterday in an exclusive interview with 7News the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, revealed that the men turned in 22 illegal and unlicensed firearms and have promised to surrender five more.
According to Commissioner Williams, this is a part of them showing good faith.
