By BBN Staff: On March 23rd Prime Minister Dean Barrow announced that the entire island of San Pedro was placed under mandatory quarantine.

This was following the confirmation of two COVID-19 cases on the island.

Today we are happy to report that the quarantine has been softened to allow persons to leave the island.

Attorney General and Minister of National Security, Michael Peyrefitte, told our newsroom, “The PM had mentioned this sometime ago. These are the people who were stranded there during the first quarantine and are now being returned to their homes.”

Hundreds of people who worked on the island were left stranded after they lost their jobs to COVID-19.

Local authorities are assisting those persons to return home.
