Examinations for PSE and junior achievement (BJAT) will not be administered this academic year, CXCs canceled

Posted: Monday, April 20, 2020. 11:04 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The usual Belize Junior Achievement Test (BJAT) and Primary School Examination (PSE), administered in Standard Three and Six respectively, will not be given as normal.

Instead, said Minister of Education Patrick Faber they will be delayed to the next level for use as assessments of promoted students as an aid in what remedial work they may need.

Belize will not participate in this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination.

But the Ministry will be working with the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) to find a way forward, especially as it relates to awards for students who signed up for at least six examinations.

It was also noted that registration and school fees will be delayed as long as possible due to economic concerns.
