By Aaron Humes: Director of Health Services Dr. Marvin Manzanero confirmed that one patient has officially recovered from COVID-19.
That means this person has twice tested negative for COVID-19.
One other patient has left the hospital and the list of quarantined individuals in Corozal is down to two.
Tests will be completed this week for the remaining patients.
Most are without symptoms and are recovering well, but have asked for their privacy as they continue to do so.
Testing continues but there is a backlog in an offer of kits from Cayman Islands but Belize is expecting other supplies by Wednesday.
Dr. Manzanero noted that the COVID-19 hotline is currently taking more calls about economic and social issues. These are being routed.
Testing will continue with secondary and tertiary contacts of prior cases after testing influenza patients in hospital.
As to when the situation returns to normal, Dr. Manzanero stated that in Mexico they have just announced stage 3 or extended human to human transmission and do not expect to reach the peak until May 23.
As for Belize, epidemiologically there must be 28 days between cases reported, as of now only 8 days have passed since the last positive swabs were reported.
