By Aaron Humes : The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and Institute of Creative Arts (ICA) have extended condolences to the family of Belizean Designer Ulysease Terry, aka Adrian Roca (Rocker), of Iconic Designs.
Terry apparently died at home in Willows Bank, Belize District sometime on Sunday. He had recently reported being held by police and allegedly assaulted and victimized.
Terry participated in several Fashion Runways, including Belize Fashion Week 1 and 2, showcasing his unique street-chic women’s apparel. He had clothing available for sale at Island Gear Boutique in San Pedro and had aspirations to further his education in Fashion Design.
In an interview done with the San Pedro Sun at his Iconic Fashion Show, Roca said: “Fashion is how I express myself and it is an extension of who I am.”
“NICH strongly condemns bullying and understands the myriad of challenges faced by our creative entrepreneurs. We are saddened that discrimination and bullying are too often added barriers. As supporters and advocates for those in the creative and cultural industries we strongly condemn bullying in all forms and appeal for an investigation. The Creative and Fashion Industry mourns his passing,” a statement said.
May his soul find peace.
