Belize City Council hands over COVID-19 testing booths to KHMH and clinics

Posted: Friday, April 24, 2020. 11:30 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: In honor of fallen friend Hubert Pipersburgh and in support of the effort to fight COVID-19, the Belize City Council today handed over four testing booths valued at a total of eight thousand dollars.

Two booths were delivered to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital; one to nearby Cleopatra White Polyclinic and the last to Matron Roberts Polyclinic on Southside.

The 50 by 48 wooden structures built by a Belmopan firm carry air conditioning and are designed for the nursing staff to swab patients for COVID-19 while limiting contact.

The Council, says Mayor Bernard Wagner, chose to help in this area to make things better for the overworked staff of the hospital and clinics, which previously conducted initial triage of patients under a tent in the open next to the entrance of Accident and Emergency ward in the case of KHMH.

Accepting the donation for the hospital was its CEO, Michelle Hoare.
