65 persons charged for violating State of Emergency regulations

By BBN Staff: On Monday, April 27, 65 people were arrested and charged for several offenses under the Emergency Powers Regulations.

One person was charged under Statutory instrument 59 of 2020 Environmental Protection (Prohibition of the open burning of Refuse and other combustible matter )Regulations.

Three persons were summoned for cross village movement.

Thirty persons were charged for being unable to provide reasons for movement outside of curfew period.

Twenty-two persons were charged for breach of curfew.

Five people were charged for failing to practice social distancing.

Four persons were charged for keeping business establishment open when required to be closed.

Three persons were charged for operating public transportation outside the time specified.

One person was charged for hosting a restricted social event.

One person was charged for burning garbage on a private land.
