PM Barrow: Measures relaxed following international benchmark for COVID-19 testing

Posted: Thursday, April 30, 2020. 11:22 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Prime Minister Dean Barrow explained today that the new relaxed measures come after examining the World health organization’s (WHO) certified benchmarks.

Barrow said that countries that have less than 10% positive return for testing for the moment are good to go meaning that those are the driving factors behind the decision to be able to re-open to the degree that has been determined.

“ This is not a case of throwing the doors wide open, there are still many restrictive measures that are in place,” Barrow said.

Barrow reminded that the Attorney General will explain all the provisions in the new Statutory Instrument.

In terms of testing, Barrow said that random sampling has commenced and will continue with particular groups of people.

The trajectory for the relaxed exercise are in keeping up with international benchmarks and guidelines.
