Why Belize’s testing protocol is adequate

By Aaron Humes: Belize, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) benchmark, is well below 10 percent in terms of positive testing with just 18 cases identified.

At the start of an epidemic only enough testing is needed to quantify the number of cases.

But Belize will in the coming weeks expand testing.

Belize has spent as much as $6 million in supplies, according to CEO in the Ministry of Health Dr. George Gough, aided by a surplus in certain items noted in January.

Prices for ventilators, masks and cleaning products rose in the wake of some hoarding of goods internationally.
