American Airlines requires passengers to wear masks as part of COVID-19 prevention strategy

By BBN Staff: American Airlines (AA) announced today a series of measures being implemented in their flights to protect passengers and crew from COVID-19, including requiring passengers to wear masks for the duration of their flight.

In a video message released by Kurt Stache, AA’s senior vice president of Customer Experience, Stache explains that flight attendants will be wearing masks, and passengers are asked to bring maks that they are comfortable with.

Stache also noted that the airline has scaled up its cleaning and sanitization of its aircraft, areas under its control at airports, and is procuring hand sanitizers for in-flight use.

“We will continue to limit the number of customers on each aircraft through May 31 to leave moe open space on each flight. As long as there aren’t any weight or balance restrictions, and the seats are available, customers can move to another seat within their ticketed cabin,” Stache said.

He stressed that the safety of everyone flying on their aircraft is the guiding principle for all of the company’s decisions.
