Caye Chapel Development Company helps Caye Caulker residents cope with COVID-19

Posted: Friday, May 1, 2020. 8:06 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Caye Chapel Development Co. made up of Mexican Investors, Thor Urbana, GFA, Immobilia, and Aralpa, has made a donation to the Caye Caulker Village Council to support the island’s residents affected by the economic downturn brought on by COVID-19.

The donation included toilet paper, rice, flour, beans, sausage, raising agents, pasta, canned meats, and condiments, which the Village Chairwoman, Seleny Villanueva-Pott, said was the most pertinent needs of residents, and is expected to impact around 400 households.

“Understanding that no man or business is an Island, the Development team decided to extend a helping hand during this time of need,” explained Dionne Chamberlain, public relations representative for the group.

The group said that it felt compelled to assist with the donation in light of the drastic effect COVID-19 had on tourism on the island, including the substantial loss of jobs. The development group notes that it has kept all of its local staff fully employed to date and is taking all precautions in ensuring the safety and security of its employees who are all Belizeans.
