By BBN Staff: Cyclists can hit the road again under the new relaxed State of Emergency (SOE) regulations that came with the ascension of Statutory Instrument no. 65 into law, however, they must adhere to social distancing and other measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte explained that cycling as a form of exercise will now be permitted under the regulations, provided that cyclists: not train in groups, ride single file on the highways, and maintain a distance of at least six feet from other cyclists on the road.
“But remember when you’re walking, when you’re jogging, when you’re running, when you’re riding the bicycle, you must have on a mask. So if you don’t breathe good when you are riding with the mask, don’t go,” Peyrefitte said.
The requirement is extended to all persons who choose to bike ride as a means of exercising during the allotted time (5 a.m. to 8 a.m.).
