Fisheries Department reopens with new regulations in place

By BBN Staff: The Fisheries Department announced that it will be reopening on Wednesday, May 6, with new measures in place for conducting business in compliance with the new State of Emergency (SOE) regulations.

The Department said that its new office hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday and that no walk-ins will be allowed, except where these services may be considered critical. Public visitations will be by appointment only.

The application process for renewals of fisherfolk and vessel licenses has been amended so that the service will only be offered  between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and only 20 people maximum per day will be able to access this service. Applicants for renewals must make an appointment and bring in: a completed renewal form, copy of a utility bill, copy of a valid photo ID (social security, passport, or voter’s ID), Expired 2019 license Valid Port Authority Certificate (only for vessel license renewals).

Applicants for new fisherfolk license (new entrants) must drop off completed application form for new entrants, copy of recent utility bill, copy of a valid photo ID (social security, passport, or voter’s ID) recent 2×2 photo at the security booth of the department’s office or send via email. The department will inform applicants of their status after receipt of the documents.

Research permit applications will be received online only, while applications for seafood permits are suspended until further notice.
