By Aaron Humes: The Eastern Division of the Police Department received a complement of 1,600 masks from the Belize City Council.
Mayor Bernard Wagner paid tribute to “the real heroes” of the COVID-19 crisis among which he numbered the Police.
Accepting the donation was Senior Superintendent of Police Suzette Anderson, deputy regional commander for Eastern Division.
The cost was $9,000 and Mayor Wagner noted that a team of six seamstresses were hired to produce the reusable cloth masks.
There are enough masks available to provide three for every officer in the precincts and special support units.
