US Chargé d’Affaires returns to America for urgent medical attention

By BBN Staff: The U.S. Embassy in Belize, today informed that its Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Keith Gilges has returned to the United States for urgent but non-life-threatening medical treatment unrelated to COVID-19.

The Embassy said his departure for medical treatment was based on advice from physicians in Belize and the U.S. “Management Officer Robert Peck has assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. for U.S. Embassy Belmopan until Chargé Gilges returns to Belize,” the statement said.

According to the Embassy, Chargé Gilges offered sincere thanks for the many messages he received wishing him a speedy recovery and expressed hope that circumstances will allow him to quickly return to Belize.

BBN also extends best wishes to Chargé Gilges for a speedy recovery.
