“Churches could re-open soon,” says Prime Minister

By BBN Staff: Prime Minister Dean Barrow during his press conference this morning hinted at the possibility of churches being able to re-open their doors soon.

Barrow said that the Government of Belize expected to receive proposals on Monday, May 11, for a phased reopening of churches.

Barrow noted that Belize currently has no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and that Monday would make 28th day of no newly reported cases. If Belize manages to keep free of new cases by that time, the movement restrictions under the State of Emergency Regulations will be relaxed and GOB will consider the proposals and update via Statutory Instrument accordingly.
