By Aaron Humes: Belize’s Red Cross Society joins its fellows in the observance of World Red Cross Day today, Friday.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was founded by Henry Dunant of Switzerland.
A post from the Belize RCS states: “It’s wonderful to be able to celebrate the work of the Red Cross on any day of the year, but it is even more special to be able to do it on World Red Cross Day…Today we celebrate the 14 million Volunteers worldwide and the endless and selfless work they do for the Red Cross each and every day, serving the most vulnerable people everywhere and alleviating suffering wherever it is found. Today we say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping us to help others.”
In Belize the society has been active for years, coordinating assistance and preparing Belizeans to survive disasters.
