Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 relief fund donates over $1 million for medical equipment to Ministry of Health

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health sought support from the Lord Ashcroft Relief Fund Committee to procure much-needed supplies to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee responded and after discussions with the Ministry and committed to supporting the financing of critical medical supplies.

The committee has expended $1,296,415 toward the acquisition of the following:

15,000 Personal protective equipment

5,000 medical goggles

5,000 medical shield masks

1 polymerase chain reaction system

2 housing units

14 ventilators

On May 11, 2020, Lyndon Guiseppi, chairman of the committee, and Denise Godfrey, senior marketing officer of the Belize Bank met Ana Bennett, Accountant General of the Treasury department of Belize to hand over a cheque for the payment of ventilators which recently arrived into the country.

The other equipment are expected to arrive into the country in the coming weeks.

The donation from the Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 relief funds displays its commitment to support the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Health, the country and people of Belize to ensure preparedness for the impact of COVID-19.

The committee continues to liaise with the Ministry for further assistance.
