No football until July, says FFB

By Aaron Humes: Following a Congress of the Football Federation of Belize on Sunday, May 10, it was agreed after hearing recommendations of the Ad Hoc Committee charged with developing a plan to re-start football that there would be no such restart.

All football tournaments ongoing up to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic have been officially canceled.

The Premier League of Belize (PLB) is tentatively set to return in July, 2020, and all other tournaments in August.

Regional body CONCACAF continues to deliberate on its plans for the Nations League final and World Cup qualification.

The only ongoing football-related event is online training on the national playing style for coaches and collaborators.

Players are expected to be registered between July 1 and September 22.

The League unofficially crowned Verdes national champions at the time of its stoppage; the Green Machine from Cayo had won the opening season and were leading the closing season at the time of its stoppage. Verdes is expected to represent Belize in the Scotiabank CONCACAF League when it takes place.

The FFB office promised further details in a press statement to follow.
