By BBN Staff: Belize City Councilor, Micah Goodin, is set to build a home in the Lake Independence constituency in Belize City.

Elizabeth Smith called local talk shows this morning and reported that her home had collapsed last night with her five children inside.

Goodin heard her cries and reached out to her.

He told BBN, ” I was raised in Majestic Alley where adequate housing was always a concern.”

“I could not see the suffering of this family and turn a blind eye. I wish I could build a mansion for this family but resources are limited so I will do the best I can for now.”

According to Goodin, he reached out to Mayor Wagner about his idea to build a new home for the single mother.

The Mayor immediately approved and committed manpower from the Belize City Council’s Works Department and additional finances if the need arises.

And so with resources by Goodin and Mayor Wagner, a family will have a new home.
