By Aaron Humes: The former petroleum exporters based in Spanish Lookout, Belize Natural Energy (BNE) have acquired a provisional license from Monday and purchased liquid petroleum gas (LPG) from the National Gas Company (NGC) today.
BNE’s Chief Executive Officer, Marlowe Neal told us the first purchase will be used for power generation for their gas turbines and not necessarily for resale.
NGC had received product for sale from Carib Trading LLC at the end of April but says it has yet to receive formal authorization from Government to proceed with commercial wholesale sales.
Meanwhile, the former importing companies, particularly Zeta Gas and Belize Western Energy Ltd have not yet been able to procure supplies from the NGC stock.
Zeta is out of gas and today asked to be allowed to import again despite not having the proper license.
The minimum price for retail LPG has yet to be set as well.
We will continue to follow this story.
