PM hits Opposition for not giving up allowances

Posted: Thursday, May 14, 2020. 11:04 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister Dean Barrow says it was not his Ministry of Finance that proposed his giving up his own salary and the Ministers giving up one months salary and other allowances. His decision to give up salary for the rest of the year was a personal decision and the decision on Ministers’ salary was taken by Cabinet.

Therefore, the Opposition, which says it was never approached to do the same, do not have much to stand on.

The Prime Minister limited his comments, he said, to preserve the unity approach he has adopted in fighting COVID-19.
