Mexicans escape quarantine center

By BBN Staff: Authorities are investigating the whereabouts of 3 Mexican nationals who reportedly escaped from a quarantine center in Belize.

The Mexicans were awaiting trial for illegally enter Belize.

The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams told the media that the Mexicans may have gone back to their country.

On Thursday, the Mexicans were found by the Coast Guard near Bacalar Chico.

The men were immediately placed on mandatory quarantine.

The quarantine center was reportedly being guarded by members of the Belize Defense Force (BDF).

Williams noted that the BDF may conduct their own investigation into the circumstances surrounding their escape.
