COMPOL says gang members are behaving well

Posted: Monday, May 18, 2020. 7:16 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams said on Ask the Experts today that the young men (who were locked down for a month) and were released are behaving well.

Williams said that he applauds the young men for their efforts in holding true to their words.

The COMPOL said that he understands that there may be peer pressure from elements close to them that may want to do their own thing but the work the men are doing with the CYPD is holding up.

Williams said that since they were released, there has been no criminal activity from either groups and he hopes it continues that way.

“ Most of these young men are family people you know, they have children, they have girlfriend and they really want to be out here for their families and that is a plus in the sense that they can think about their children and their girlfriend before they commit a crime and decide their mind do I want to be out here for them or do I want to go to prison,” Williams said.

In addition, Williams said that some of the men surrendered their weapons.
