By BBN Staff: A traffic accident occurred last night around 6:45 near Biscayne on the Philip Goldson highway between miles 23 and 24 as a two-door Ford Ranger pickup truck just barely avoided head-on collision with a pedestrian.
According to police, Michael Magana, 49, was walking on the road while the driver of the pickup, Carlos Martinez, 55, was traveling in the same direction. Martinez reportedly swerved, trying to avoid hitting Magana but he was still hit by the vehicle’s rearview mirror, according to the report.
The pickup truck ended up in a swampy ditch with its four wheels upwards. Carlos and his passenger Andrew Martinez, 29, received various cuts and each complained of pain to the chest. Magana was seen laying on the highway bleeding from his elbow and complaining of pain in his lower stomach.
All three men saw a nurse at the local clinic and were later escorted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where medico forms were issued.
