Belize remains COVID-19 free; random testing continue

By BBN Staff: Belize has managed to control the first wave of COVID-19. The country saw 18 cases of the virus and 2 Belizeans lost their lives to it.

The Ministry of Health continues its random testing among different groups of people and has to date, conducted 1,363 tests.

Thirty-seven of those tests are under investigation.

One thousand three hundred and thirty-five tests returned negative.

The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the rise in cases in neighboring Mexico and Guatemala.

Mexico is reporting approximately 1 in 3 of their infections needing hospitalization (higher than the global average) and 1 in 5 of those infected is a health care worker.

The Director of Health Services reiterated for a community effort as Belize moves along to prevent any more cases of COVID-19.
