By BBN Staff: Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, gave an update on Belize’s COVID-19 situation today, noting that the country is currently on Day 38 since the last reported case.

Manzanero explained that there has not been any high-suspect case since the last reported cases, and that testing of persons with flu-like symptoms continues countrywide.

“In terms of what is happening in the region, Mexico and Guatemala which are our immediate geographic neighbors continue to report cases,” Manzanero said.

He noted that in countries all over the world, the reports are shifting and COVID-19 is no longer being concentrated to certain categories of patients and are affecting a wider range of people. He stressed that chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity are still regarded as major risk factors for complications relating to COVID-19.
