National Aids Commission provides food assistance to persons living with HIV

By BBN Staff: As part of its ‘Continuity of HIV Services during COVID 19 Action Plan,’ the National AIDS Commission (NAC) conducted a needs assessment of persons living with HIV/AIDS.

NAC says this was done through the existing various layers of support for persons living with HIV/AIDS to include social workers and adherence counselors in the Ministry of Health, Peer Navigators, NAC District Committees, Civil Society Organizations and the Ministry of Health.

The assessment revealed many persons living with HIV/AIDS are desperately in need of food items in order to remain adherent to their medication.

Equipped with this information, NAC reached out to various persons and organizations, including Orson “OJ” Elrington, who donated twenty packages containing a variety of food and essential items.

These packages will be distributed to HIV infected and affected persons.
