Chinese businessman dies hours after being shot

By BBN Staff: Our newsroom has confirmed that Xinwu Zhu 38, Chinese businessman and hairdresser of Belize City, died this morning while undergoing treatment for gunshot injuries at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Zhu was sitting on the stairs of his establishment, Joe Zhu Shop, when the shooter on a bicycle rode up beside him pulled out a gun, and fired several shots. Zhu was hit to the body and taken to the KHMH where he reportedly died around 1:27 a.m.

A widely circulated surveillance video shows the shooter wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, shorts, a hat, and his face covered, opening fire on Zhu without any kind of prior exchange between the two.

Police are investigating the incident.
