Tropical disturbance predicted to bring heavy rains this weekend; flood warnings issued

The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a flood warning as a tropical disturbance is expected to bring heavy rains this weekend.

The Met Service’s latest weather report says “a tropical disturbance will support heavy rains over Central America this weekend, into next week, with the possibility of flooding over some parts of the country, especially low-lying and southern areas.”

For Belize, the 24-hour weather forecast is for cloudy skies with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms developing mostly over inland and southern areas tonight. Then activity will spread to most places tomorrow, along with periods of rain.

The extended weather outlook is for cloudy skies with some showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain over most places, especially inland and south, are expected to prevail into Saturday night and Sunday.

Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 80 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 72 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.

Winds will be blowing East at 5-15 knots and the sea state will be light chop.

Low tide will begin at 10:10 p.m. and high tide will come in at 4:02 a.m.

The sun will rise tomorrow at 5:17 a.m.
