Municipal bodies, student associations, and individuals all around have been donating funds, time, and talents to ensure that Belize’s most needy have hope. After seeing the hardship brought on by the pandemic, Renowned Taiwanese artist Yaoling Lee decided to step up for the creative sector and use her talents to help raise money for relief efforts.

Lee told our newsroom that seeing the impact COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown had on people put her in a position where she could not find peace until she did something to help.

“I spoke to a friend of mine who suggested that we try to do something after the lockdown was finished, but I said, people need to eat now not later,” Lee said.

She opened the project for 10 days, but due to the high volume of work, she had to stop taking new orders.

“I was open for 10 days and I got over 35 commissions, so I had to close the project. Every single piece takes about two to three days to finish, and then for those, I took during the ten days, they will take me three months to finish,” Lee said.

She added that she closed off the project to ensure that the quality of her paintings remained at a standard of quality that she can be proud of. Lee also said that, despite the high volume of work, she has found come contentment knowing that she has used her talents to help those in need.
