Tropical Storm remnants to bring more rain and possible flooding

Posted: Monday, June 1, 2020. 8:29 am CST.

The latest weather report from the National Meteorological Service of Belize says that the remnants of eastern pacific Tropical Storm Amanda will continue to support very moist and unstable conditions across the country.

The 24-hour forecast calls for cloudy to overcast conditions, with some showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain continuing mainly over northern and northern offshore areas this morning, inland this afternoon and northern and central areas tonight.

The Met Service has advised that flooding due to heavy and persistent rainfall mainly over central and northern areas, is expected to continue near rivers and streams, and in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

“There is a high possibility for flash-flooding, near communities along on the eastern slopes of the Maya mountains,” the Met Service added,

Today’s temperature highs will range from 84 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 88 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 78 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 72 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 68 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.

Winds will be gusty, blowing East-Southeast at 10-20 knots and the sea state will be moderate-rough.

A small craft caution remains in effect for occasionally gusty winds and locally rough seas, especially near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

High tide came in at 6:11 a.m. and low tide will come in at 12:45 p.m.

The sun will set at 6:24 p.m. and the moon will rise today at 2:27 p.m.
