KHMH relaxes restrictions to match relaxed state of emergency regulations

Posted: Tuesday, June 2, 2020. 4:07 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) announced today that the hospital will be relaxing some of the heightened safety measures implemented during the State of Emergency, to go along with the new relaxed measures approved by the Government of Belize.

The KHMHA said that, effective today June 2, the hospital has reopened its previously-suspended clinic services; however, these services can only be accessed by appointment.

The hospital authority further said that it has readjusted its visitor policies which include visiting hours and the number of persons being allowed on general wards. General Hospital visiting hours are now from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. with only one visitor allowed per patient daily. Evening visiting hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with one person going in at a time and a maximum of 3 visitors per patient daily. The KHMHA also advised the public to arrange pickup of discharged relatives within the approved visiting hours.

“As a safety precaution in accordance with social distancing protocols: 1. All persons accessing the KHMHA are required to wear a mask upon entry and maintain its use while in the facility 2. All persons entering the hospital will have their temperature taken and will be triaged at nurse’s stations located at the KHMHA lobby and at Accident and Emergency,” the KHMHA said.

The hospital authority also thanked the public for the cooperation and patience over the past few months, noting that the measures put in place were implemented to ensure public safety.
