Posted: Saturday, June 6, 2020. 12:29 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Statistics from Worldometer indicate that as of today, the global cases of Covid-19 stands at 6,906,762.

The global number of deaths is at 399,576.

On Friday, June 5, 2020, Belize reported its 19th case of Covid-19 and the number of deaths remain at 2.

Of those currently infected with the virus, over 3.06 million are mild cases, while over 56,000 are in either serious or critical condition.

The United States remains the worst-hit country by the pandemic, now approaching 2 million confirmed cases (more than double that of the second most affected country) and over 111,000 deaths (more than triple that of the second most hit country). Brazil is the second most affected country with over 651,000 confirmed cases and over 35,000 deaths. Russia is the third most hit country, with over 459,000 confirmed cases and over 5,000 deaths.

Belize had gone 53 days without any confirmed cases, reportedly one of only 12 countries globally that was able to make that claim.

Belizean health authorities continue to monitor the increase in cases in neighboring Mexico and Guatemala.

The newly confirmed case resets the count, while the government takes the appropriate steps to ensure that the threat is contained.
