By BBN Staff: As of today, June 7, 2020, the global count for positive COVID-19 cases is now over 7 million.

The number of positive cases, according to Worldometer, stands at 7.08 million, hitting the 7 million mark between yesterday and today.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths jumped the 400,000 mark between Friday and Saturday, now standing at 405,074.

As the pandemic rages on the United States has reported over 2 million cases, the most in the world, with over 112,000 deaths. Brazil is still the second-most hit country in the world with almost 700,000 confirmed cases and over 36,000 deaths. While Russia ranks third in the total number of confirmed cases (at over 467,000), it has kept casualties relatively low (just over 5,000) in comparison to other nations.

Belize reported one new case this week, however, neighboring countries continue to see positive cases trending upwards.

Mexico’s last update showed that it had over 3,500 new cases, bringing its total to over 113,000 cases with over 13,000 deaths. Guatemala reported some 307 new cases today, for a total of 6,792; Honduras had a total of 184 cases for a total of 6,155, and El Salvador had 81 new cases for a total of 3,015.

Due to the rising cases in neighboring countries, Belize’s land borders remain closed.
