Philip Goldson International Airport

By BBN Staff: In a news release sent out to tourism industry stakeholders this evening, the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA), reported that the association is conducting a membership survey entitled “Opening Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA)” . The survey is intended to “gauge the opinions of its members with regards to a reopening date along with safeguards that should be instituted whenever PGIA reopens”.
The survey is being conducted in the aftermath of a 19th case of Covid-19 being confirmed in Belize by the Ministry of Health.
According to the release “The State of Emergency (SoE) and its accompanying restrictions, as well as the re-opening of the PGIA, remain widely discussed topics with various points of view”. The release claims that since Belize has been COVID-19 free for over 50 days with no domestic spread, it “has prompted discussions about whether or not the SoE should be lifted and when the PGIA should be re-opened”.
BTIA members are encouraged to complete the survey which will close on Monday, 8th June (today) at 12:00 am (midnight).
