Posted: Monday, June 8, 2020. 11:24 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Minister of Education, Patrick Faber informed the nation today that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the budget for the Ministry of Education is being significantly affected.

Some of the programs to be affected are textbooks, feeding programs, high school subsidy programs, 6 CSEC subsidy programs, open scholarship programs, and the PSE top 25 scholarships.

Faber noted that the University of Belize will take a significant cut and that the overall assistance from the Ministry of Education will be limited.

The Minister said that this will continue until the ministry is able to get back its full budget when the finances of the nation has improved.
