Minister of Education: Schools need their monies

Posted: Monday, June 8, 2020. 3:04 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Patrick Faber, the Minister of Education is urging parents to pay their kids school fees.

Faber said that the schools need their monies and that the schools usually divide the payments into monthly or per term payments to make it easier for parents to pay it.

The school fees are used to pay teachers, provide support services for students, and when payments are not made, the schools face financial challenges.

In response to the question as to why the Government of Belize (GOB) cannot pay for it, Faber said that GOB makes a major investment for every child to go to school and that they pay 100% of the salaries of all primary school teachers.
