By BBN Staff: The government of Belize has approved further relaxation of the State of emergency Measures implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
GOb said that Cabinet approved the recommendations made by the national COVID-19 oversight committee which includes the extension of the curfew period from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m from Sundays to Thursdays, and from 9:00 p.m. to Midnight for Fridays and Saturdays.
The number of persons allowed at social gatherings such as weddings and funerals have been increased from 40 to 100, and sporting events now have the all-clear to resume. Facilities such as gyms are now allowed to open and spas can now offer the full range of treatments that were previously prohibited to only hair and nails.
Private parties, weddings, funerals, receptions, meetings of fraternal societies, social clubs or civic associations or organizations can be held following social distancing protocols.
The use of public parks has also been restored.
“The State of Emergency will expire on June 30 is not expected to be extended,” GOB said.
