By BBN Staff: Earlier BBN reported that a man and his mother were wounded by a gun which, was accidentally discharged as the owner was cleaning it as a residence in the Belama phase 2 area of Belize City. The victims were both treated at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.
According to police, Jamal Tablada, 36, was servicing his licensed .9 mm Beretta pistol around 10:30 this morning when he accidentally pulled the trigger, causing injuries to himself and his 52-year-old mother, Marian Tablada. Jamal was grazed to his left hand and his mother was shot to her right foot.
Police at the scene recovered the pistol along with 15 live round of .9 mm ammunition.
